If you live in the Cincinnati, Ohio or Northern Kentucky areas and have had a bat in your living area or are noticing bats flying around your home, squeaking or scratching noises in your attic then call the professionals at Advantage Wildlife Removal to inspect your home and offer a solution to exclude them.

Exclusion is the best way to eliminate your home of bats. Exclusion is sealing all holes/gaps larger then ¼” especially the top half of the structure. It is recommended this be done by a professional to ensure the bats are not trapped in either causing them to die and smell or forcing them to travel down into the occupied areas of the building. Repellents are usually ineffective and can even cause bats to travel further into the structure. Valves should not be installed between mid May and mid August as this is usually when the females have their young and during this period of time, the female are caring for them.

A small percentage of bats contract rabies in the Cincinnati, Ohio area however, this is always a possibility and bats should never be removed without thick leather gloves as they normally do bite when pressure is applied to them. Histoplasmosis is another concern with bats which is an airborne fungus disease that can grow on bat and pigeon guano (droppings). Usually the guano must have contact with moist soil which is normally not an issue in a dry environment such as an attic. Inhaling stirred up dust that contains fungus spores is normally how the Histoplasmosis is contracted so it is not recommended to clean up guano unless there is a serious odor or health issue and should only be done by trained personnel with the proper safety equipment.
